KSOU Distance MA in Economics

The distance MA in Economics program at Karnataka State Open University is a two-year postgraduate area of study divided into four semesters. The course is meant for students and practitioners who wish to increase their knowledge of economic theory and practice. Further, it is conducted through distance mode and serves many students to meet their higher education aspirations. 

The subject matter covered by the course is a combination of areas like Microeconomics and Macroeconomic Analysis, International Trade and Finance, Agricultural Economics, Public Economics, Money and Banking, and Development Economics. Besides, advanced and specialized areas in Research Methodology, Quantitative Techniques, Statistics for Economics, and electives like Rural Development, Welfare Economics, and State Economy are included to equip students with both the knowledge of theories and skills of practical analysis.

KSOU is a reputed institution for distance and online learning. It has an NACC “A+” grade to its name and is UGC-approved. The online programs of the university are also of high quality and UGC-DEB-approved. The entry requirements for the distance MA in Economics program are:

• Have a graduate degree lasting three years (any discipline), and 
• Must be from a recognized university.

There is no EMI option available at KSOU but the fee of every program is affordable and pocket-friendly. Instead of EMI options, KSOU offers various scholarships and financial aid to students from minorities, tribal welfare departments, and so on.

The examination pattern of KSOU consists of internal assessment and end-term examination which are divided according to the weightage of marks they carry individually, and they are combined and evaluated at the end of every semester. Internal assessment carries 20-30% of weightage which is decided by the university and a notice is circulated to the students through their official website the students can submit their internal assessment online or at the dedicated regional study center allotted by the university.
