- The research proposal must clearly define the objectives, methodology, literature survey, work plan, and relevance of the proposed research, and shall present it in the form of a colloquium before the Research Advisory Committee.
- For individuals who are working and wish to pursue a doctoral degree in three years, an online DBA program. The Doctor in Business Administration (DBA) is characterized by offering flexible online class schedules, where individuals are not required to appear for any entrance examination.

The admission process at Karnataka State Open University is easy as compared to other universities offering ODL, to take admission at KSOU you must follow the given steps:
Step 1: Firstly the student has to visit the official website of the university and register themselves on it.

KSOU PhD in English Syllabus / Curriculum
The PhD in English program offered at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has mandatory coursework. The university follows the ‘Credit system’. Each credit is of 15 hours of teaching comprising all learning activities such as studying the self-learning material, participating in the counseling/contact classes, preparing assignments, visiting the library/industry/institution, interacting through audio-visual related issues, and preparing for exams.
On completing the coursework, the individuals have to take coursework examinations. The coursework examination is evaluated through Internal assessment and external examinations. KSOU PhD in English Examination Pattern
