KSOU PhD in Library Science Syllabus / Curriculum
The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) operates under a ‘Credit system’ for all its academic programs. Each program at the university includes mandatory coursework, which consists of three papers, each carrying 100 marks, along with one paper worth 50 marks. Every credit corresponds to 15 hours of instructional time, covering various activities such as engaging with self-learning materials, attending counseling or contact classes, working on assignments, visiting libraries or relevant institutions, participating in audiovisual-based learning, and preparing for exams.
Students’ coursework is evaluated through a combination of internal assessments and external examinations. Internal assessments focus on areas such as Research Methodology, Cognate Subjects, and specialized papers.
For examination eligibility, students must apply after receiving the university's official notification and pay the necessary fees. The external examination includes both a viva voce and a written theory exam.
